G41 / G42 Compensation
We said a few words about tool radius compensation. What is it and how it works. But there is one quite important issue. What is the difference between G41 compensation and G42 compensation?
Compensation G41 is a left-sided compensation. This means that the tool is located on the left side of the machined contour.
So during the movement the tool has the workpiece on the right side. And this type of milling is climb milling.
Compensation G42 is a right-sided compensation. This means that the tool is on the right side of the machined contour.
So during the movement the tool has the workpiece on the left side. And this type of milling is conventional.
And that’s enough to complete information about tool radius compensation.
